The body is a golf ball. The beak, tail, legs, and crest are all made of golf tees. Lost golf balls are hunted and gathered by me and my dog. (Let's clean up all that plastic!) Then they are cleaned, sorted, and sterilized. The very best finds are carefully hand crafted into Birdies. The rest are donated to Goodwill or First Tee for reuse. Please note, parts are not just pasted on! To give strength and keep proportions correct and balanced, seven meticulously precise holes are drilled into that little ball! Beaks are reinforced inside with a small hidden dowel. Professional construction glue is used to cement parts into drill holes. Screw-in eyes are carefully inserted. All this takes a lot of time and patience. Finally, a fine hole is drilled into the crest to thread a filament for hanging.
